A VASS certificate is a document issued by a Vehicle Assessment Signatory Scheme (VASS) engineer in Australia. This certificate confirms that a vehicle modification or custom build complies with the relevant design and safety standards. It is typically required when a vehicle has been significantly modified or built from scratch, such as for hot rods, custom cars, or imported vehicles, to ensure it meets Australian safety and design regulations.
The VASS certificate is important for getting a vehicle registered, as it verifies that all changes made to the vehicle are safe and legal.

In Victoria, selling a vehicle requires a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC) from a licensed vehicle tester. If your vehicle has been modified, your mechanic may request a VASS certificate before they can issue the RWC. This ensures that all modifications meet safety and compliance standards, making the sale process smooth and hassle-free.
